Reward and Remind Program

The purpose of this program is to encourage our local alcohol vendors to properly ID individuals that are purchasing alcoholic beverages to help reduce underage alcohol and tobacco access in our community. With the new passage of the “Tobacco 21” bill we will be adding tobacco to our efforts.

The process entails:

A youthful looking 21-year old male or female will be entering a local alcohol retailer and attempting to purchase a tobacco product or 6 pack of beer.

  • If the clerk request for the youthful looking 21-year old male or female to show their ID, the clerk will be presented with a “Thank You” card that reads:
    • “Congratulations you did the right thing. You are preventing alcohol use by minors by doing the right things and not selling first without checking id”.
  • If the clerk does not request the ID the youthful looking 21-year old male or female will hand them a “Reminder” card that states:
    • “Always Check for Proper ID” Georgia state law makes it a misdemeanor to sale, furnish or give alcohol to a person under 21. You can be fined and or sent to jail. As well the retailer is subject to losing their alcohol license.”
